"Fantasy Island" 1978-1984, with Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villechaize. A classic Hawaiiwood theme show which had a surprisingly long run on TV. A great fantasy concept, the show had a theme that mainland audiences really liked tuning into each week. A 1998 revival version with Malcolm McDowell (instead of Ricardo Montalban) and with a Twilight Zone type story-line using state-of-the-art digital effects failed to make the ratings and it was cancelled. Herve Villechaize is best remembered for his line: "The Plane!, The Plane!" |
